Navigating Businesses Through Stimulus Plan

Philadelphia Business Journal

Peter Peyser, head of Blank Rome Government Relations LLC, spoke with the Philadelphia Business Journal on how to navigate through the $787 billion federal stimulus plan signed into law on February 17, 2009 by President Obama. During this transition period many firms are spending time interpreting the complex language of the stimulus package, and figuring out how it works.

“Clients want to know what strings come with the money and who decides who gets it,” Mr. Peyser said, “we recently received an inquiry from an alternative-energy company interested in finding out what would be the right mix of capital raise and grant funding for a project.”

Blank Rome represents SEPTA, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the CEO Council for Growth of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Peyser said Philadelphia is receiving block grants to support making city-owned buildings more energy efficient and for community improvements. There will also be more money for the community policing program started during the Clinton administration which had its funding cut during the Bush administration.
